A Warm Welcome to your Holiday in Derbyshire.
Our holiday properties are either close to the River Derwent, (a World Heritage Site) in the heart of the Amber Valley, just on the southern fringes of The Peak District National Park, or on the shores of Carsington Water in the Derbyshire Dales.
Whatever your age or interest, whether you have just a few hours or time to linger, we feel sure you will find something to please in Derbyshire. We are proud of our heritage and it is here that you can experience the landscape and architectural treasures that cradled the birth of Britain's industrial revolution. Many of our famous residents played important parts in the development of this Country. At the National Tramway Museum we have one of the world's largest collections of restored trams whilst the Midland Railway centre has an interesting and varied railway collection.
Looking for a bargain? Then there are numerous factory shops situated in the area. Watch others at work at Denby Pottery Visitors Centre, then try your hand at the skills you have witnessed. Perhaps you would rather explore our towns and lovely stone villages, all with something of interest to offer.
Chatsworth, Kedleston, where The Duchess has been filmed, Sudbury and Haddon Hall, where Jane Eyre was filmed in the recent television series, are some of the many historic buildings to explore. You will have a wide selection of historic buildings to choose from and they are all set in unspoilt countryside.
Meanwhile, tranquil parks and gardens encourage you to relax and enjoy the serenity, whilst if you visit Lea Rhododendron Gardens you will be greeted by one of the most glorious displays of colour to be found anywhere in Britain. At Belper River Gardens you can hire a boat or take a trip on the River Cruiser, then enjoy the superb visitor centre in the nearby historic Strutt’s North Mill. For those looking for excitement, one of the Country’s leading theme parks Alton Towers is just 35 mins drive. From Somersal Herbert additional places to visit are Drayton Manor Park, Snowdome at Tamworth, Waterworld and the Potteries at Stoke on Trent, Cannock Chase and Shugborough Hall. Just when you begin to think you’ve seen everything there is to see, you’ll discover there is so much more!
